Simple Ways to Protect Your Skin
- Protect yourself from the sun. Ultraviolet rays emitted by the sun can cause many types of skin damage, such as – skin cancer, wrinkles, age spots and discolorations.
Use sunscreen regularly, especially whenever you’re outdoors in the heat for longer periods. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends using sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.

These are only some options to choose from. You know your skin best, so choose accordingly and wisely. Avoid the sun during peak hours, from 10 am to 2 pm, when its rays are strongest. No strategy completely protects sunburn, but try your best to not get too burnt by the sun.
- Drink lots of water. Skin that is properly hydrated is less likely to become chapped, dry, and flaky. In addition to drinking enough fluids, it is also important to keep your skin moist.
- Use moisturizer/lotion/cold cream that suits your skin type.
- Wash your face twice a day regularly with warm water and a mild cleanser.
- Avoid hot water. Take lukewarm showers/baths for maximum 10 minutes, as excessive exposure to water dries your skin.
- Use gentle skincare products.
- Look out for products with least chemical content.
- Your makeup, moisturizer, face wash, etc. might produce short-term smoothness and glow, but they could actually be the reason for your acne, age spots, and wrinkles.
- Avoid strong soaps. They remove oil from your skin, making it dry.
- Do not over-rub, over-scrub or over-peel.
