Did you know that the genre of science-fiction was invented by a woman in the year 1818? Ever since, for almost two hundred years now, women have been dominating the world of science-fiction novels, while also dabbling in a variety of sub-genres like fantasy, action, adventure, humour etc. Here’s a list of the women who have most impacted science-fiction.

Written: Frankenstein
Mary Shelley was only eighteen years old when she wrote Frankenstein, which is considered to be the first sci-fi book written. She basically invented the genre. - Ursula K. Le Guin
Written: Earthsea Series, Hainish Cycle Series, Lavinia
Ursula K. Le Guin has won several awards for her work in fantasy and science fiction, and has been awarded the title of Grandmaster in these genres. She writes for adults and children. - Octavia Butler
